Terra Blissett’s Punctum

This photo was taken by the late Chris Hondros. He was a photojournalist and in this picture he captured the image of a girl with blood all over and around her, crying after American soldiers had killed her parents on January 18, 2005. This took place in Iraq during the Iraq war. What really “pricked” me in this photo was the expression on the little girl’s face. Her face is the punctum in this photo which reads complete terror and fear. I can’t even imagine how I would react in her situation but her face gives me a slight idea. To add to this horrific image, a soldier’s gun is so close to the little girls face, its hard to imagine an even worse situation. This image makes me think if the killing of her parents was necessary or if this was a pointless raid, which happens all too often. Image
